Know About Application Software and Its Types

Application Software is a computer software designed to help the user in completing singular or multiple number of specific tasks. It solves the problems in the real world. Enterprise software , accounting software and many other specialized software are the examples of application software. Application software is also known as application or an app.

Application software is classified in to following types:

  • Enterprise software helps in fulfilling the needs of the organization. Customer relationship management and the supply chain management software are the examples of the enterprise software.
  • Application suite is a bundle of applications. Business application suite includes MS Office, Open Office.Org and iWork.
  • Enterprise software systems are supported by Enterprise infrastructure software.
  • Graphical user interface (GUI) is a user friendly interface and the user can select command choices from various menus, buttons and icons using a mouse in this interface.
  • Product engineering software is used to develop hardware and software products like computer aided design (CAD), computer aided engineering (CAE), computer language editing and compiling tools, Integrated Development Environments, and Application Programmer Interfaces.
  • Mobile applications are also useful for the organizations as they run on personal devices like mobile phones and enterprise digital assistants.
  • Simulation software is a process in which an operation is observed through simulation without performing actual operation and it is a program based on process of modeling a real phenomenon with a set of mathematical formulas.
  • Content access software is used by the enterprise to access content without editing but it may often include software that allows for content editing.
  • Information workers software is used by the individual employees in the organization to create and manage individual projects with in a department. Time management, resource management, documentation tools, analytical and collaborative software are some of the functions enabled by workers information software. Word processors, spreadsheets, email and blog clients, personal information system, etc. are the examples of Information workers software.
